Unless you were kidnapped by aliens at birth you should have picked up some knowledge of photography on your way through life. We all should all be familiar with the term 'make an exposure'. But what exactly does it mean?

The raw material of photography is light. Light is recorded by our cameras. This is exposureRecording light onto photo sensitive devices and materials.

We let light into our cameras when we press the shutter. It is important that we control the amount of light striking our film because there is only one correct 'dose' (i.e. correct exposure).

We can control the amount of light striking the film in one of two ways
