Artefacts are unwanted lines or marks that appear usually as a result of a dirty scan or sometimes through applying the sharpening filter too much.

Background noise A type of noise often with long exposure manifesting as fixed colored dots. This noise can be removed in a photo editing application by combining the image with the mask of a blank frame, which should have identical stuck pixels.

Bleeding Bleeding is a degradation of image quality caused by over-saturated pixel sensors and results in ‘colors that run’.
